Revelation FROM Jesus Christ
This book is a revelation from Jesus Christ (1:1).
Revelation ABOUT Jesus Christ
This book is a revelation from Jesus Christ (1:1).
- John describes the substance of what was revealed to him as the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
- The book is called Revelation (not Revelations) but it is one continual revelation of and from Jesus
- The word "revelation" is from the Greek word apokalypsis, meaning "a disclosure" or "an unveiling."
The association of this term with John's depiction of the end times is one reason we refer to "end of the world" occurrences using the term apocalypse. Scholars differ on whether the book of Revelation should be thought of as a disclosure about Jesus Christ or a disclosure from Him. Likely, it is both. (Bibleref) - You may even feel a sense of fear when you begin to think about the Book of Revelation. However, John encouraged his readers by saying those who heed Revelation’s words will be blessed because the time is near
Matthew 5:6 — “Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed, for they will be filled.”
Revelation ABOUT Jesus Christ
- Scholars will argue that the book is either a revelation from Jesus or a revelation about Jesus. But it is both!

“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. (Zech 12:10)
- He is the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty (unrestricted power exercising absolute dominion) (vs 8)
Jesus says "I AM the Alpha and Omega" which ties Him to Yahweh revealed in Exodus 3:14 - John saw the son of man dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet and with a golden sash around His chest. His hair was white like wool and HIs eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters. (vs 15)
